Tamas facing FA charge

West Brom defender Gabriel Tamas has been charged with violent conduct over the clash which left Norwich's James Vaughan needing hospital treatment.

The Football Association took action over the incident which occurred late in the Baggies' 1-0 Premier League win at Carrow Road on Sunday.

Tamas was given until 18.00 BST on Tuesday to respond to the charge, which would carry an automatic three-match ban if accepted.

The 27-year-old Romanian caught Vaughan with an elbow to the face during a stoppage-time corner, something Norwich boss Paul Lambert insisted should have brought a penalty.

West Brom manager Roy Hodgson, however, defended Tamas, saying he was "100% convinced it is unintentional".

West Brom confirmed they would make a decision on Tuesday over whether to accept or contest the charge.
