Serie A - I am not happy in Italian football, Mourinho

Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has admitted he is "very happy at Inter, but not in Italian football", fuelling speculation that his dislike for both the Italian media and football federation could lead to him exiting the San Siro this summer.

Mourinho has been punished several times by the Federazione Italiana Gioco Calcio (Italian football federation) for his outspoken comments and has struggled to build a rapport with the Italian media - declining to participate in the post-match press conference following his side's 2-1 Serie A defeat to Roma on Saturday.

The Portuguese coach also re-affirmed his affection for English football, where he enjoyed incredible success as manager of Chelsea, though he was keen to stress that he is fully focused on Inter's quest for silverware this season.

Serie A - Trapattoni turned down Juventus job

Republic of Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni has revealed that he turned down the Juventus job in favour of the challenge of steering the Irish towards Euro 2012 qualification.

Trapattoni was heavily linked with a move back to Turin after Ciro Ferrara was sacked earlier this season, but the post went to Alberto Zaccheroni on a temporary basis.

Veteran Trapattoni would have likely been a popular appointment but the 71-year-old chose instead to continue his excellent work with Ireland, having guided them to the brink of World Cup qualification before painfully losing out to France and Thierry Henry's controversial handball.

EPL - Pompey duo out for six months

Both Hermann Hreidarsson and Danny Webber face at least six months out of action, after picking up serious injuries during the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.

A scan on Tuesday revealed that striker Webber suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and will see a specialist in London next week ahead of surgery.

Defender Hreidarsson ruptured an Achilles in the same game and will have surgery in London next week, with the news that both will be out for half a year dealing a bitter blow to struggling Pompey.

EPL - Martinez faces FA probe

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez could be charged by the Football Association following comments made about referee Stuart Atwell after Monday night's defeat at Manchester City.

Martinez effectively accused the official of lying about the red card handed out to central defender Gary Caldwell. The Latics' boss believes Atwell did not actually see the tackle but still chose to dismiss the player signed from Celtic in the January transfer window.

EPL - Nani signs contract extension

Manchester United winger Nani has signed a new four-year contract with the club after being rewarded for his impressive form this season with a deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2014.

Nani had been the subject of plenty of criticism after failing to live up to his £17 million price tag since moving to United in 2007, but he has proved his worth over the past few months - producing a number of scintillating displays, including a man of the match performance in the 3-1 victory over Arsenal.

Nani's Old Trafford career looked to be heading for the scrapheap earlier in the season, especially after he lifted the lid on Ferguson's angry rants in an interview with a Portuguese newspaper in November.

Primera - Alvarez named caretaker coach

Sevilla assistant coach Antonio Alvarez will take charge of the the first team until the end of the season.

Alvarez takes over from Manolo Jimenez who was sacked following Tuesday's 1-1 draw against rock-bottom Xerez. It is the 54-year-old's first position as first-team coach, having served as Jimenez's assistant for the previous two years.

EPL - Tosic to QPR on loan

Portsmouth have agreed to send Serbia international Dusko Tosic on loan to QPR, subject to approval from the Football League.

Tosic, a former Werder Bremen defender, signed for Pompey as a free agent in February as the cash-strapped club sought to reinforce their depleted squad, but the Premier League initially withheld his registration because of the financial situation at Fratton Park.

EPL - Hargreaves return to first-team training

Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves is to return to first-team training as he prepares to come back into the side for the run-in.

Hargreaves has missed the last 18 months through injury and had to undergo double knee surgery to cure a tendonitis problem, but he made his return for the reserves last week and was due to face Burnley at Accrington on Thursday night.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson has now revealed the player has been withdrawn from that match as he steps up preparations for his first-team return.

EPL - Queudrue joins Colchester

Birmingham defender Franck Queudrue has joined Colchester United on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

The move will give Queudrue the chance to play first team football with the U's and, should they be involved in the end of campaign promotion play-offs, he will be eligible for selection.

Queudrue, 31, has only featured seven times for City this season due to the excellent form of Liam Ridgewell at left-back.

Queudrue joined Birmingham from Fulham in August 2007 and has made over 50 appearances for the club and last season was voted their player of the year.

Primera - Sevilla sack Jimenez

Sevilla have sacked manager Manolo Jimenez after their winless run stretched to seven games with a 1-1 home draw to bottom placed Xerez.

According to a statement on the Sevilla's website, Nacho Oria and Ramon Orellana, members of Jimenez's coaching staff, will take charge of training until a new coach is appointed.

In his first season in charge, Jimenez led Sevilla to a fifth-place finish in La Liga, and last year he guided them to third spot and a return to the Champions League. In Europe this season, Sevilla cruised through the group stages of the Champions League, picking up 13 points from their six Group G matches to finish four points clear of second-placed Stuttgart.

Sevilla then recorded a promising 1-1 draw away to CSKA Moscow in the first leg of their last-16 tie before slumping to a 2-1 defeat in the return meeting at home last week.

EPL - Rooney could be rested

Wayne Rooney could be rested for Manchester United's trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday amid fears that his niggling knee injury is getting worse.

Rooney was initially informed the knee issue would clear up in one month but the irritation persists. Although the problem does not prevent him from playing for United, it is causing discomfort and swelling after matches.

The 33-goal striker is central to United's hopes of winning silverware this season and with a key clash with Premier League title rivals Chelsea and a Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on the horizon, Rooney may well be spared Saturday's trip to the Reebok Stadium.

Primera - Guardiola facing disciplinary action

Barcelona have confirmed that the Spanish football federation has initiated disciplinary proceedings against coach Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola was sent to the stands during Barcelona's draw at Almeria at the beginning of the month for protesting against a decision.

He hit out after the game, accusing the referee Carlos Clos Gomez and his assistants of lying in their explanation of why he had been dismissed and now faces a possible punishment for his post-match comments.

Serie A - Pato suffers injury setback

AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato faces another spell on the sidelines after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Napoli.

Pato was only just returning from three weeks out because of a similar complaint, but lasted just 15 minutes before he had to be substituted.

The 20-year-old underwent an initial assessment on Monday and is due to have further tests as Milan look to get to the root of the problem.

Serie A - Mancini dismisses Juventus link

Reports on Sunday suggest Juve director-general Roberto Bettega broached the subject with Mancini at Craven Cottage but the former Inter Milan coach insists he is not planning on a swift return to Italy.

Juve are in somewhat of a crisis and suffered arguably their most humiliating night in recent times on Thursday when a 4-1 defeat at Fulham saw them dumped out of the Europa League.

Alberto Zaccheroni replaced the sacked Ciro Ferrara back in January until the end of the season and, with relations with their fans at a new low, Juve know they need to bring in a big-name manager come the summer.

EPL - Zola given two games to prove his worth

The unhappy Hammers are rapidly losing patience after a catastrophic run of four straight defeats which now sees the East End club in peril of the drop.

Zola has to pull West Ham out of their current slide in two crunch games this week. If they can get positive results against Wolves, on Tuesday night, and Stoke then he will be safe.

The West Ham board expect victory in the relegation six-pointer against Wolves with the backing of the Upton Park crowd. Defeat would signal the alarm bells while a draw would mean the Hammers have to beat Stoke, or Zola's future would be hanging by a thread.

EPL - United announce new sponsorship deal

Manchester United have announced their third major sponsorship deal in a week.

Following on from high-profile partnerships with Telekom Malaysia and Turkish Airlines, United have added a seven-figure contract with African telecoms giant MTN that will see the company become their exclusive South African telecommunications partner for the next three-and-a-half years.

Int'l - Bayern might not sell Ribery

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says Franck Ribery could remain with the club next year even if he fails to sign a new deal.

Ribery, whose current contract ends in 2011, has been the subject of speculation for some time and it has been widely suggested that he will join Real Madrid in the summer.

Yet while Bayern had previously indicated that Ribery would be sold if he failed to agree an extension before the end of the current campaign, Rummenigge insists that it is not a foregone conclusion.

Serie A - Zebina slams fans

Juventus defender Jonathan Zebina has lashed out at the club's supporters after the Italian giants fell further into crisis with a humiliating Europa League exit at Fulham.

Leading 3-1 from the first leg, Juve were expected to ease comfortably through to the quarter-finals but they were defeated 4-1 in an astonishing night at Craven Cottage which saw Fabio Cannavaro sent off in the 27th minute.

Zebina was also dismissed in stoppage time and as the French right-back walked off the pitch he put his middle finger up at the travelling fans. The 31-year-old apologised for that gesture but has urged the fans to back their team.

Relations between the club and its fans are at an all-time low following a dismal season.

Coach Ciro Ferrara was sacked in January but his replacement Alberto Zaccheroni has changed little and Juve are fifth in the Serie A table and, following the latestt humiliation, out of all cup competitions.

EPL - Riera suspended by Liverpool

Riera has been disciplined by Benitez and told not to return to the Merseysiders' Melwood training ground until Monday, with his future at Anfield cast into serious doubt.

The midfielder launched a critical broadside at Benitez, claiming he did not speak to him, and told Radio Marca: "The dialogue with the players is practically non-existent. There is a lack of tact."

EPL - McLeish expecting to spend in the summer

Alex McLeish claims he has received a "positive" response from the Birmingham board in terms of the finances available to strengthen the squad and improve the infrastructure for next season.

McLeish held talks earlier this week with Blues vice-chairman Peter Pannu and chief executive Michael Dunford to outline plans for the future.

And he is predicting exciting times ahead at St Andrew's under owner Carson Yeung as City look to build on an impressive first season back in the Premier League.

EPL - Defoe out with hamstring injury

Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe will be out of action for a "few weeks" after tearing his hamstring, manager Harry Redknapp confirmed on Friday.

Defoe, the club's leading scorer this season with 23 goals in all competitions, joins an already lengthy injury list at White Hart Lane that includes Tom Huddlestone, David Bentley, Aaron Lennon, Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate.

Serie A - Mourinho free to walk away

Jose Mourinho says he is free to leave Inter Milan at any point during the next three years of his contract.

Mourinho has repeatedly been linked with top jobs outside Italy, and his reputation rose further this week after he helped Inter to a 3-1 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the Champions League.

The former Blues boss has fuelled speculation that he may come back to the Premier League in the summer by saying he "may coach another English team" and it now appears there is a chance he could leave the San Siro sooner rather than later.

EPL - Abramovich considers changes

Carlo Ancelotti faces the sack after only his first season in charge of Chelsea if he fails to deliver the Premier League title.

Roman Abramovich was angered at Chelsea's failure to perform as they exited the Champions League to Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan this week, and Ancelotti admitted in the aftermath that his job was under scrutiny.

It has been widely suggested that Abramovich could now be willing to fund an overhaul of the squad this summer, but he is unwilling to join Real Madrid and Manchester City in paying hugely inflated fees.

Primera - Xavi out for over two weeks

Xavi is suffering from a muscle problem in his right leg and is likely to be out of action for the next 15 days.

This means Xavi will miss the league games against Real Zaragoza, Osasuna and Real Mallorca.

EPL - Fabregas to return

Gunners captain Fabregas has been out since March 6 - missing the matches with Porto and Hull - due to a hamstring injury but is expected to pass a fitness test on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, Gallas has missed the last six games and is set to be out for at least two more matches - missing the game against West Ham and the match at Birmingham on March 27.

EPL - McLeish in talks over new deal

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has started negotiations with club owner Carson Yeung over a new contract.

McLeish joined the Blues two and a half years ago and has transformed the club fortunes after the initial disappointment of being relegated from the Premier League.

He led them to promotion last season and has helped to establish City in the top ten of the Premier League during the current campaign and also reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

EPL - Saving Hull is his biggest challenge

Dowie was unveiled on Wednesday as successor to Phil Brown and admits he faces the biggest challenge of his managerial career after being appointed Hull boss with just nine matches left to secure survival in the Premier League.

It marks Dowie's return to the game following a similarly short stint at Newcastle, where he was assistant to Alan Shearer in the Magpies' futile fight against relegation last season.

Tim Flowers will join as assistant manager with Steve Wigley also joining the coaching team.

Primera - Real aim to tie Higuain to new deal

Real Madrid general director Jorge Valdano has revealed the club are in talks with Gonzalo Higuain over a new deal which he hopes will keep the striker at the club for the rest of his career.

Higuain, who joined Real from River Plate in January 2007, has now hit 19 goals in what is proving to be an excellent season for Los Merengues.

Serie A - Beckham ruled out of World Cup

Beckham sustained the injury without coming into contact with anyone else, limping to the sidelines for treatment in the dying moments of AC Milan's 1-0 victory over Chievo before leaving the San Siro on crutches.

Initial reports suggested the England midfielder would be out for around three months but the club's physio has since revealed he expects the player to spend five to eight months on the sidelines.

Milan have revealed that Beckham is set to fly to Finland on Monday for an operation on the problem. His parent club, LA Galaxy, are understood to be awaiting further news on the incident before issuing a statement on his future.

EPL - Kenwyne Jones out for at least a month

Manager Steve Bruce expects a hip injury to sideline striker Kenwyne Jones for at least a month in news that could undermine Sunderland's chances of pulling decisively away from the relegation zone.

Bruce has utilised Jones in tandem with top scorer Darren Bent and the former has contributed with eight goals of his own, with the latest, against City, seeing Sunderland move seven points clear of danger.

EPL - Tigers announce sacking of manager Phil Brown

Hull have taken the decision to relieve Brown of his duties following a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday in which the Tigers conceded an injury-time goal having battled admirably despite being down to ten men following the first-half dismissal of George Boateng.

A statement from chairman Adam Pearson read: "Retention of Premier League status is paramount and the board believes that a change in managerial direction is the correct option at this time."

Brown led Hull City to promotion in the 2007-08 season and the Tigers enjoyed a superb start to life in the Premier League, beating Arsenal and Tottenham in London to generate speculation that they could challenge for European football after an impressive first half of the 2008-09 season.

But a 5-1 hammering at Manchester City on December 26 - which famously saw Brown conduct his half-time team talk on the pitch - ushered in a difficult run for the club and they won just one league game in the remainder of the season, finally avoiding relegation on the final day of the season, despite losing 1-0 at home to Manchester United.

EPL - Huddlestone signs new deal

Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone has signed a new contract which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2015.

The 23-year-old joined Spurs from Derby in July 2005 for £2.5 million and has made almost 150 appearances for the club.

EPL - Cahill poised to return

Bolton defender Gary Cahill is scheduled to return to training on Monday just 37 days after being diagnosed as having a blood clot in his left arm.

Cahill has made a remarkable recovery after it was initially feared he would miss the rest of the season. It means he should be able to play in the latter part of the campaign for Bolton and revive his dream of making the England World Cup squad.

EPL - Chelsea keeper crisis

Chelsea have been plunged into a goalkeeping crisis ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League return leg against Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan.

Chelsea lost first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech with a calf strain in the 2-1 opening leg defeat at the San Siro and deputy Hilario collected an abductor injury during last Sunday's 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Stoke.

The injuries have left the Blues with just Ross Turnbull and Rhys Taylor available for the Premier League clash with West Ham and the pair are likely to be on duty against Milan in their return last-16 tie as coach Carlo Ancelotti admits it is unlikely Hilario or Cech will have recovered in time to play.

EPL - McLeish sets Europa League target

Alex McLeish has admitted for the first time that Birmingham could qualify for the Europa League - if his current strikers can deliver sufficient goal-power during the remainder of the season.

McLeish saw the reunited Cameron Jerome-Christian Benitez partnership impress during the 2-0 mid-week win at Portsmouth which lifted City up to eighth spot in the Barclays Premier League.

However, he concedes Saturday's visitors, Everton, remain favourites to overhaul them despite City drawing 1-1 at Goodison Park and also knocking them out of the FA Cup.

EPL - O'Hara eyes top flight stay

With Pompey facing a nine-point deduction from the Premier League after going into administration, the club is almost certain to be playing Championship football next term. Having enjoyed such a promising campaign, O'Hara admits he is unlikely to follow Pompey into the lower division.

The 23-year-old has spent the campaign at Fratton Park after struggling to gain regular first-team football at White Hart Lane.

O'Hara has been the shining star of a very dark season for Pompey and has thrived in a free midfield role given to him by manager Avram Grant over the past few matches.

Serie A - Hernandez won't leave, says agent

The agent of Palermo striker Abel Hernandez has played down speculation that his client will leave the Italian club this summer and move to Premier League side Arsenal.

Hernandez, 19, has been linked with a move to England after his imposing style caught the eye in Italy. However, Vincenzo D'Ippolito insists the Uruguay Under-20 international, who has scored four goals in Serie A this season, is happy with life in Italy.

Serie A - Nesta could miss the rest of the season

AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has been told that he may have to undergo surgery on his injured knee, meaning he could be out of action for the rest of the season.

The defender is set to have further consultations with Mariani and the Milan medical staff before he decides on what course of action to take.

Second-placed Milan, four points behind leaders Inter with 11 games left, also have injuries to defenders Luca Antonini, Daniele Bonera and Oguchi Onyewu and missed Nesta badly in the 4-0 drubbing against Manchester United in the Champions League.

EPL - Nomura to advise Red Knights

The battle for control of Manchester United has taken another twist following confirmation that a leading global investment bank has agreed to advise on a possible acquisition of the Old Trafford outfit by the Red Knights group.

The Nomura team will be led by Guy Dawson and Andrew McNaught, both of whom advised the Board of Manchester United plc when the club was sold to the Glazer family in 2005.

With United over £700 million in debt, many now see the Red Knights as the only salvation for the Old Trafford outfit, even though the Glazer family insist it is business as usual and the club is not for sale.

EPL - Fabregas to miss Hull match

Fabregas, who was substituted against Burnley last weekend, missed the Champions League victory over Porto and had been rated at 50/50 for the weekend, but manager Arsene Wenger now admits there is little hope of a swift return.

There are also concerns over William Gallas, who is thought to be some way away from a return to first-team action.

EPL - Giggs ready for comeback against Liverpool

Giggs will sit out Sunday's Premier League encounter with Fulham but is expected to make his comeback against Liverpool at Old Trafford seven days later.

Meanwhile, Ferguson insists he is ready to let Owen Hargreaves take the next step on his road to recovery.

EPL - Wenger reiterates Real Madrid snub

Wenger has long been targeted by Madrid and is now being linked again in the wake of the Spanish side's exit from the Champions League at the hands of Lyon. Current coach Manuel Pellegrini is under pressure, but Wenger has revealed he has no plans to leave his position at the Emirates.

Wenger joked that Real ought to "leave me alone" when the subject of him potentially being chased by the club was broached, and said that he preferred to focus on his next task, the away game at Hull City.

Perez spent £240 million on new signings last summer, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, largely to push the club to the Champions League final in May, which will be staged at the Bernabeu.

Int'l - Blatter defends decision over goal-line technology

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has defended the decision to rule out goal-line technology on the grounds of cost and keeping the game the same throughout all levels of football.

Blatter said goal-line technology would lead to the introduction of video replays which would disrupt the rhythm of the game.

FIFA, supported by the Welsh and Northern Irish Football Associations, voted at the International FA Board at the weekend to block any further experiments with technology.

Primera - Pellegrini has no plans to quit

Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini dismissed any suggestion he might step down in the wake of his side's Champions League exit at the hands of Lyon.

With the final being played at their Bernabeu home and more than 250 million euros being spent on new talent last summer, Madrid had placed great stock in going all the way in this year's competition.

However, they were dumped out at the last 16 stage for the sixth successive season after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Lyon.

Serie A - Prandelli will remain coach

Prandelli has been linked with a move to Juventus once Alberto Zaccheroni's contract with the Turin giants ends this summer, but Della Calle is sure the coach will remain with La Viola.

Prandelli joined the Viola in 2005 and led the Florence outfit to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in the 2007-08 campaign. Fiorentina finished fourth in Serie A last season to earn qualification to the Champions League.

The Viola currently lie 11th in the standings, 11 points behind fourth-place Palermo, who hold the last Champions League qualifying spot.

EPL - Pini Zahavi behind £1bn bid for United

Super-agent Pini Zahavi was unmasked in the Sunday papers as the mastermind behind the offer a £1 billion cash bid for Manchester United.

Zahavi has close links with Sir Alex Ferguson, counting him as a personal friend, he is the agent for Rio Ferdinand, dealing with his big money transfers and contracts.

Zahavi declined to disclose the two groups now bidding for Manchester United, but other sources indicated one was from the Middle East, while the other was, presumably, the Chinese group returning to the negotiating table.

EPL - LA Galaxy to prevent Donovan from extending loan

With the MLS season due to start on March 27 though, Galaxy are determined to bring Donovan back to California.

Donovan joined Everton on loan in January and has made a positive impact for the Toffees in the eight appearances he has made in the Premier League.

Hull will be the opposition for Donovan final match.

Int'l - Football chiefs to discuss red card changes

The main item on the agenda for the International FA Board (IFAB) meeting in Zurich, is the automatic red card and there has been a growing chorus of opinion that the punishment is too harsh - a penalty, a red card for the offender and a subsequent suspension.

A rule change would clear up such grey areas and FIFA has submitted the item suggesting the offence is down-graded to a yellow card if a penalty is awarded.

The IFAB is made up of the four home nations, who each have one vote, and FIFA, which has four. Any rule change needs a minimum of six votes in favour.

EPL - Sir Alex slams injured Rooney

Frustrated by the news that Michael Owen is out for the season, Ferguson launched a public criticism of Rooney for playing in the midweek friendly against Egypt. Ferguson rarely lashes out at players in the media, so it was surprising he broke that rule to attack Rooney, his best player.

Rooney could miss Manchester United's Premier League trip to Wolves after aggravating a pre-existing knee niggle during his 86-minute appearance for England on a Wembley surface Ferguson feels contributed to Owen's hamstring tear.

Serie A - Moratti confident Mourinho will stay

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is confident Jose Mourinho will remain at the San Siro despite persistent rumours over his future.

Mourinho has never settled in Italy and has constantly been at odds with the press, culminating in an altercation with a journalist outside the team coach which led to a fine from the Italian FA.

Despite winning the Scudetto in his debut season and leading the league this term, his fractious relationship with the media has helped fuel speculation that he could return to England, perhaps with Manchester City, or switch to Spain with Real Madrid.

EPL - Owen out for the season

Manchester United striker Michael Owen has been ruled out for the season after tests revealed the extent of the hamstring injury he picked up in last Sunday's Carling Cup final victory over Aston Villa.

The news is a big blow for Owen, who has been plagued by hamstring injuries throughout his career, and ends any slim hopes he had of making a late charge into Fabio Capello's England World Cup squad.

Better news for United is that Owen Hargreaves is set to make his long-awaited comeback in a reserve team encounter next Thursday, having been out since September 2008 with a series of knee problems.

Serie A - Borriello wants Inter's Balotelli

AC Milan striker Marco Borriello has revealed he would love Mario Balotelli to come and join him at the Rossoneri from city rivals Inter.

Balotelli has impressed with some scintillating displays for Inter this season, but his inconsistency has led to criticism from Nerazzurri boss Jose Mourinho.

Balotelli currently sits behind Samuel Eto'o, Diego Milito and Goran Pandev in the Inter pecking order and he could follow the likes of Clarence Seedorf and more recently Amantino Mancini, in making the swicth from the Nerazzurri to Milan.

EPL - Everton hopeful of extending Donovan deal

The United States captain, who is due to return to parent club Los Angeles Galaxy, has made a positive impact since joining the Merseyside club on a short-term deal in January.

Moyes has previously stated that any extension to the 10-week loan would be unlikely, but he has now made contact with Galaxy to see if it is possible.

If no new agreement is forthcoming, Sunday's clash with struggling Hull will be Donovan's last at Goodison Park.

Int'l - Bosingwa out of World Cup

Chelsea full-back Jose Bosingwa will miss the rest of the season and the World Cup with Portugal as he requires further surgery on a knee injury suffered against Aston Villa.

Bosingwa, who joined Chelsea from Porto for £16.3 million last season, has not played since mid-October, making only eight Premier League appearances this campaign.

Primera - Higuain reveals Van Nistelrooy advice

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has revealed he received a valuable piece of advice from former team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy when he arrived at the Bernabeu - to treat goals like ketchup.

Higuain has been in stunning form this season and has scored 16 goals in 18 appearances for his club.

"Ruud told me that goals are like ketchup", he told La Sexta. "Sometimes as much as you try, they don't come out, and then they come all of a sudden."
