Sevilla assistant coach Antonio Alvarez will take charge of the the first team until the end of the season.
Alvarez takes over from Manolo Jimenez who was sacked following Tuesday's 1-1 draw against rock-bottom Xerez. It is the 54-year-old's first position as first-team coach, having served as Jimenez's assistant for the previous two years.
