AC Milan's defender Oguchi Onyewu face months out.

Onyewu hurt his left knee playing for the United States during Wednesday night's World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica and will undergo tests in the coming days to determine the extend of his knww injury.

The player has hardly featured at Milan since joining on a free transfer from Standard Liege in the close season.

Valencia faces ruin

Valencia president Manuel Llorente explained that they could have been demoted to the third tier of Spanish football this summer had it not been for the regional government who bailed them out to the tune of €74 million. Llorente insisted the club are not yet out of the woods and may have to sell star players David Villa and David Silva.

The club is expected to make a loss of between €35 and €40 million this season, something which clearly cannot be sustained in the long term.

Robinho to join Barca in January transfer window?

Robinho will be offered as a makeweight to lure some of Barcelona's superstars such as Thierry Henry, Yaya Toure, Eric Abidal, Carlos Puyol.

The player himself had publicly stated his burning desire to link up with Lionel Messi.

Robinho was the first big money signing when the Abu Dhabi money men shell out a British record of £34m to take him from Real Madrid.

Sunderland confirm Zenden signing

Former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Boudewijn Zenden has joined Sunderland until the end of the season. The 33 years old free agent has been on trial and did enough to impress Steven Bruce.

If his international clearance come through on time, his first match could be against former club Liverpool.

Rooney out, Berbatov in doubt

Rooney sustained a calf problem during England's defeat to Ukraine and will miss the game against Bolton. He will also be a doubt for the midweek Champions League trip to CSKA MOscow. Berbatov, who scored a hat-trick for Bulgaria, may not be available after his partner has given birth.

Meanwhile, Michael Owen is available and Edwin Van Der Sar will make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a hand injury.

Liverpool to miss talismanic duo

Liverpool will be without Torres (adductor) and Gerrard (groin) for the trip to Sunderland. Both suffered injuries while away for international duties.

Rafa is hoping that the duo will be ready for the mid-week crucial Champions League clash with Lyon as well as Man Utd visit to Anfield in a fortnight.
