The Brazilian, who joined City just over a year ago for a British record £32.5 million, has been closely linked with a move back to Spain with Barca one of the confirmed admirers.
The player has already admitted he would relish the chance to play for Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side, and believe that by joining the Catalan club, he will have a better chance of achieving his long-held goal of being the best player on the planet.
