EPL - McLeish expecting to spend in the summer

Alex McLeish claims he has received a "positive" response from the Birmingham board in terms of the finances available to strengthen the squad and improve the infrastructure for next season.

McLeish held talks earlier this week with Blues vice-chairman Peter Pannu and chief executive Michael Dunford to outline plans for the future.

And he is predicting exciting times ahead at St Andrew's under owner Carson Yeung as City look to build on an impressive first season back in the Premier League.

EPL - McLeish in talks over new deal

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has started negotiations with club owner Carson Yeung over a new contract.

McLeish joined the Blues two and a half years ago and has transformed the club fortunes after the initial disappointment of being relegated from the Premier League.

He led them to promotion last season and has helped to establish City in the top ten of the Premier League during the current campaign and also reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
