EPL - Birmingham secure deal for Zigic

Birmingham City announced on Wednesday afternoon that the club have completed the signing of Valencia striker Nikola Zigic.

Zigic, 29, joins the club on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee and Blues fans will be able to view their new signing at the World Cup finals where he will represent Serbia.

It is reported that Birmingham have paid in the region of £6 million for Zigic, who has scored only five goals in 28 league games for Valencia. However, he claimed 25 in 51 games in two spells with Racing Santander.

Zigic also has 16 goals in 42 games for his country and was named Serbia's Player of the Year in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

The capture of the 6ft 8in striker represents Birmingham's second major signing of the summer following the arrival of goalkeeper Ben Foster from Manchester United.
