EPL - Scharner leaving Wigan

Paul Scharner has announced that he plans to leave Wigan Athletic this summer.

Scharner, 30, joined Wigan from SK Brann in 2006 but had been strongly linked with a move away last summer.

He sparked fresh speculation that he could move on during Monday's 2-2 draw at home to Hull as he had the word 'THANX' dyed into his hair, and he has now confirmed that he will be moving on.

Scharner, who is out of contract at the end of the season, recently claimed that Fulham, Everton, Aston Villa and Sunderland would all be interested in signing him this summer.

Meanwhile, Wigan have confirmed that chief executive Brenda Spencer will be retiring at the end of July after 24 years with the club.
