Spain's Primera Division could follow the example of rival European leagues and split from its second tier division.
Following a meeting at the Spanish football league (LFP) headquarters in Madrid on Monday, it was announced that a decision had been taken to start talks this summer about a possible separation between the top two divisions.
The LFP announced that a series of meetings would begin after June 21 and the intention to reach an agreement before the start of the 2010-11 season.
